Ive Ben subbed since the beginning.. I still want to see a diesal swapped lambo.. Seems lame but I've never seen anyone do that before..
Hey brother, what’s your name on Raid, wouldn’t mind playing with you. I as well like pvp
What's your attitude on the geometry changes of the suspension in regards to offset vs actually moving suspension arms outward in stead
You should've used fleece.
No
Deleted his car lmao
light weight.... 🙄😁
"Flipped" "deleted his car" damn Chris you are savage 🤣🤣
That is so cool how you all have made those panels.
aircraft fabric en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_fabric_covering
Why not use a fibreglass weave sheet, same a carbon, could pull as hard as you want
"Hydraphobic" .. its called fish eyes...caused by contaminates on your surface interract with the chemicals you add such as resin or paint. You're touching your surfaces with oil, lubricants, fingerprints and other contaminants. Clean surfaces properly to prevent it.
Buys super car ..puts shitty Chevy motor in it...buys expensive ass body kit....adds a shaping frame hot glues fabric to build custom body kit over body kit...... theres nothing huracan left.
Very good ideas brother to achieve the shape you wanted. But I kind desagree with the 2nd wing building... To be honest, what I would have done is 3d scan 1rst wing without putting resine to it. Adjust things if needed to ease the installment later on. When I am satisfied with upgrade and mods. I do a mirror copy of it for the other side. Once that done. I CNC on cheap wood or resine mold the shape I am happy with for both side, then do the carbone magic fabric. Both side would be exactly the same + I can mod the skeleton base on a computer before I produce it, also I can reproduce it 1000x times if needed
Whats the song name at 19:28
i cringed at 20:40 because if you touch a fiberglass like that without a special glove it can get stuck deep in your hand and can get itchy real bad cause i happened to experience that.
Not to be picky, but infusing isn't laying some resin over the carbon fiber/cloth/whatever. It's a specific way of creating a carbon fiber piece using the vacuum system you kind of tried in one of the earlier episodes. Love the series anyways!
It would have probably been better building the widebody kit with foam like most custom body kit molds then fiberglass over it theres someone on here that did it on a cresida
Those panels turned out amazing great job. Are you really just putting them over the frame and stock quarter panel's? The point of carbon quarters is to get lighter lol..but guess being a sema car its really just for looks?
Though what you were doing was cool... until this. Damn
Hey, i know you're flatout busy. Just want to know what camera, mic you use. And what you use for the timelapse?
Outstanding! That is turning out very nice-looking.
Fyi, I have done a bunch of vacuum bagging with ceconite ( see-co-nite) as the peel ply on fibreglass repairs I was doing on helicopter cowlings. Worked great as a peel fly as epoxy didnt't stick. Not sure if this helps with your build, but your carbon fibre may debond from the ceconite. That is me experience working with ceconite and fibre glass working.
WOW O_O It's turning out incredible! Ben ceconite ftw
lol raid shadow legend is pay2win and no way to has 10m+ players everyday say not very meany games have that never mind one so shit.
Thus build is sick love the Italian Super car made better powered by Chevrolet b is for better #merica
Super Jelly about those Truly Cases!
That inside layer of carbon......mmmm. So pretty! haha
fubar
If u brush the resin in one direction will it look better?
You know as fun as high power cars that we build and put on the street are, as well as how awesome they look the truth of the matter is the streets really aren’t the place to use em. Not saying don’t drive em but drive it like you would a Camry unless you’re a maniac then please don’t hit me.
Very cool keep it going can't wait to see the final build
The amount of work put into this car is crazy! I would’ve been to lazy and just wrapped it 😂 fake it til you make it
Please do a Truly wrap on the car for SEMA. White, black letters down the door, fruit and such along the bottom
I wasn't expecting you to glass in the actual frame, I though you were going to remove that stuff.
🤦♂️
You really should have por15'd the metal parts before sealing it inside. Any moisture at all slips through and those are gonna rust from the inside out, quality oversight right there....but it's a sema trailer queen so I guess it'll never matter.
You better pray not to damage the car
Hey Chris thank you for being a inspiration for me because i wanted to do these things but i was afraid but now i am watching your 240z project and this lambo build how you doing this stuff without even knowing everything...chris i am going start building my own project thanks for showing the way to do...wish you luck and to do more awesome stuff
are you really, really excited? How excited are you?
I am not sure, I have seen carbon fiber applications where they use multiple layers and use an vacuum in an oven to cure the material, these parts are used in aviation. Your parts look absolutely awesome.
B is for Ben.. who saved the day
need to support the bottom of the rear framing where it's close to the rocker panel.... can just imagine the flapping from wind catching it now....
Does Kyle have a channel he seems to do damn good work
B is for Baby: learning to impregnate a rear quarterpanal.
Hey Chris, I had the greatest opportunity and bought my dream car last week. Your channel along with some others have inspired me, and have showed me that maybe it is possible that a normal guy like me can take on this challenge and build a car I've wanted for so long even though I might not have a lot of experience building cars. These videos motivated me to take that leap of faith and for that I want to say thank you! Let me know if you need an extra car for sema. I'll get to work asap! Lol
You're planning of fabbing and selling this body kit, right? Because the angles are perfect!
Y'all never fail to amaze me. (In a good way obv tho.)
Try heating it with a heat gun it might dewrinkle it. Or try using the "I believe nylon" used on general aviation planes as wing skin
Or heat it with an iron
You have a nice frame for the flares. But I really think you should foam fill, then shape. Make your carbon fiber panel from the foam/frame, then dissolve the foam and adhere/attach the carbon to the frame.
This should all be done in clay
Chelsea needs to make a coffee run.
How much did you spend in the carbon/glass fiber alone?
B is build is moving from normal builds to awesome build. Love this style of fabrication... cheers
Grab a $5 metal fiberglass roller for that chopstrand and a sqeegy when applying resin on the carbon fibre . Make life a lot easier.
OMG Chris I found TJ's and your's inspiration video for your SEMA builds. Someone made TJ's GT3 458 and your SEMA Lambo build earlier this year in a video (minus the Manuel option) in this video. You need to watch this video. fistream.info/work/videot/natvjM3PhJDZ2nE (BTW its not my video so credit goes to the ower)
I think it would be hilarious if you could make a response video to there video.
This is definitely some next level stuff. Looks great!
Ideally you want to sand between dried layers, to promote a stronger mechanical bond, hopefully itll hold together fine.
Rust protection on the steel bars inside the carbon? Or is the kit only for like one summer?
RW-B-IS-FOR-BUILD in the house🤣
Carbon fiber body panels came out great!
Can’t wait to see this thing in person at SEMA. 100% what I’m looking forward to the most.
Basically made your own carbon fiber👍🏾👏🏿👏🏿
Bro put more time in doing videos and researching how to make thing so you dont lose time and money and can upload a vid every 2 to 3 days. Love your videos. PEACE
Love the build butttt not gonna lie, these “home made” fenders dont look good at all. I think it would have looks much more professional if he bought premade widebody fenders and then modified those with fiberglass
Where is the boat?
Congratulations!🚗
Low key waiting for the next boat episode 🤫
#carartisans you guys are artisans!! great job!
I'm not big on advertising. But I'm gonna grab some Truly next time I'm out of the house ONLY because they sponsored you. That's fucking awesome. #BisforBROKE
On a side note Copart has increased their prices. Especially for online bidding.
U can sell that kit
You should do a build on an Evo 9!!!!! Haven’t seen many of those on FIstream
I know he don't buy none of them parts with them black forces
I love your channel (more when there were consistent videos, but still love it). Funny that through this video I kept thinking, “Does he have a drinking problem? He sounds half in the bag.” Then you introduce a pallet of Truly. 🤨 Your videos are better when you are (more) sober.
Don't you need an autoclave for carbon fiber ?
Love this vid sm
A mental build and sick innervation
Kevin didnt crash it.
Can we get 2 episodes a week? Looks like lots is happening etc. Be good to see more content again. Chelsea and the boys etc
YOU SHOULD USE a FOAM ROLLER IT MAKE A SMOUT JOB
Be cool to see a video every day are you doing anything else on the side?
what if you made a whole outter skin of a car outta that stuff
"And then unfortunately he deleted his car" XD
Love the progress on the build so far but just was missing one piece we need more Oscar!😂😂😂😂 Hehehe love the videos bro keep them coming
Great vid. If only us regular shmos could get into SEMA to see it.
What an awesome build ep. You've come so far from not knowing how to fiberglass at all. Way to go, man. Watched for years, will keep on doing so. :)
Hi Chris, just a quick note... on your fabric make sure you get fabric that is mostly cotton with only 5% spandex. The issues is the resin will melt the spandex or any synthetic fibers if you are using a polyester resin. If its epoxy resin you should be OK but the dry time and stiffness will not be as good. Also keep in mind that the polyester resin will shrink a lot as it cures causing wrinkles from the corner areas. Try to make sure your frame does not flex, and you may need to add more supports to the frame. I have videos on my channel on doing this. Hope this helps. Cheers.
good stuff this came out great
Maybe Ben knows how to fix Kevins car in time for Sema? :D
Should probably use some ventilators if you're ~12" from fresh resin 😬
You guys should use fleece. Fleece is stretchy but absorbs very well. That use it on custom speaker boxes And it looks great
I am sure this comment may get buried in the sea of comments but here's hoping. I have been following this build since the beginning and I was wondering which car lift was you using in the earlier episodes. The black two piece scissor lift style one. I have seen similar ones and I am looking for recommendations.
you look super burnt
I have used polyester fleece for fiberglass subwoofer boxes. The fabric lets you stretch it and becomes very hard once resin is applied and hardened.
A paintbrush? Why not an aerosol pre-coat?
Oh man, thats looking sick 👌🏻
I wonder how stiff you could make window film. You know? Tape it on...hit it with the heat gun and it shrinks like that magical airplane skin but cheaper. LOLs =o)~
It was his personal trainer who deleted his car...
Save those carbon scraps pieces!
i spoke too soon. should have finished the episode
I don't know if someone have already told you about this technology of making a smooth carbon finish by applying a polyethylene film on top, but here's the video: fistream.info/work/videot/as-Cn82mZXnT0HE The guy speaks russian, so use subtitles. It may be useful for your work.
It's just like how they would build an aeroplane in the first world war linen then dope it to stiffen.
Peelply is your friend. It will reduce the need to sand that nasty epoxy and carbon to almost nothing.
Guys this build is amazing!!! I know you boys are gonna get it done, loving the progress and the ingenuity.
